During the second Test of the ongoing Sri Lanka’s tour of South Africa at Port Elizabeth, Sri Lanka defeated South Africa by 8 wickets to register a historic 2-0 series victory. Coming on the back of losing 0-2 in Australia, Sri Lanka turned the tables within no time against the Proteas on their home soil.

The series victory has made the island nation become the first Asian team to win a Test series in South Africa. With India becoming the first Asia team to beat Australia in Australia last month, it speaks highly about the Asian cricketers are dominating across conditions.

Having won the first Test in a riveting manner (by 1 wicket), Sri Lanka has effectively whitewashed South Africa in South Africa. The importance of the same can’t really be defined in words.
