RCB and DD were both desperate for a win tonight, as the duo were languishing at bottom of the table.

You could almost cut through the tension in the air as RCB took the field, because the expectant Chinnaswamy crowd wanted their heroes to come out on top today and get the season started in its true sense.
RCB started the game on the front foot, as Chahal got the ball to talk big time during the power play, but a fighting partnership between Iyer and Pant brought DD right back into the mix, with Pant launching himself in the last few to give DD that final impetus.
RCB felt they had conceded that little bit too much with that Pant innings at the end, but AB de Villiers was in ‘black mamba’ mode today.
With the openers dismissed and Kohli forced off the field due to that Boult special, the onus was on AB de Villiers to deliver the goods and my word did he come up with something special tonight.
de Villiers managed to score 90 off 39 balls to help RCB get over the line.
This is how Twitter reacted:
In this IPL, we’ve seen some serious strikers of the cricket ball….Gayle…Watson…Lynn…Russell But this man is something else. AB is magical. Has a wand in his hand and not a bat. #RCBvDD #IPL
