Both CSK and SRH entered the tournament with only one thing in mind – win this one and book a berth in the finals straightaway. No team wanted to take the long route of Qualifier 2 and guess what it is CSK which has ended on the right side of the line.

The match got off to some start with Shikhar Dhawan getting played on off the very first delivery of the match bowled by Deepak Chahar.
That pretty much set the tone for the innings as Sreevats Goswami, Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey departed in quick succession. It was the late surge by Carlos Braithwate which helped SRH reach 139.
Coming in to chase, CSK got off to a similar start with Watson getting out for zero. Suresh Raina and Du Plessis then calmed things down but another string of wickets had them in trouble. However, du Plessis (67) batted till the last and with some help from Shardul Thakur (15) saw CSK to the win.
Twitter could not handle the close win and was full of praise for CSK:

Carlos Brathwaite’s 29-ball 43* helps SRH fightback and post 139/7 in the Qualifier 1 at the Wankhede. CSK need 140 runs to book a berth in the final.#CricketMeriJaan #SRHvCSK

Both MS Dhoni & Suresh Raina are appearing in their 20th semifinal/playoff match – the most by any player in #IPL.
Both missed last 4 stage just once:
Dhoni – in 2016 (for RPS)
Raina – in 2017 (for GL)
But for #CSK appeared in all – nine out of nine!#CSKvSRH#SRHvCSK#IPL2018— Mohandas Menon (@mohanstatsman) May 22, 2018
Carlos Braithwait bowling the 18th over. Kaul bowling the 19th ahead of Bhuvneshwar. Rare captaincy errors from one of the finest captains in the #IPL #SRHvCSK
