India won the historic one-off test against Afghanistan in an emphatic fashion.
India thumped Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs in the historic one-off test at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. This is the first time an Asian team has won a test match inside two days.

India won the toss yesterday and chose to bat first. Both the Indian openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay, scored centuries, as KL Rahul’s fifty, and Hardik Pandya’s heroic innings of 71 took India to 474. However, India’s test batting stalwarts Cheteshwar Pujara (who batted at 4) and Ajinkya Rahane failed to make a mark with their bat in this match.
Afghanistan came to bat on the second day, and their inexperience in the whites clearly showed. The Afghan were bundled out for 109 in their first innings, with Mohammad Nabi top-scoring with 24 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin took 4 wickets in the innings, while Jadeja and Ishant shared a brace.
India invited Afghanistan for a follow-on, and their story for the second innings was similar to the first. Barring Hashmatullah Shahidi, who batted with a sense of composure throughout the innings, Afghanistan’s batsman failed to face the spin on Indian tracks, as they were bowled out for 103.
Jadeja dismissed four batsman, while Umesh Yadav took three wickets in the second innings.
India will now embark on a tour to United Kingdom, where they are scheduled to play three T20Is against Ireland and England, three ODIs against England, and a five-match test series against the Three Lions.

The romance of Afghanistan’s debut is now face-to-face with the reality of test cricket. Just 28 overs in the first innings.

Not a memorable Eid for @ACBofficials losing Test in 2 days. But start’s been made & hopefully lessons will be learnt soon. Congrats India!

Wickets have fallen in a heap. Batting is the department in which Afghanistan cricket clearly looks unripe

The opposition hasn’t been threatening but we have seen three moments of brilliance. The Pandya run-out, Ishant’s dismissal of Ahmadi and Ashwin getting Stanikzai bowled.

Asghar Stanikzai – In my opinion, we have good spinners, better spinners than India.
Afghanistan spinners – 62.5-3-294-4
Indian spinners – 32.3-8-94-11#INDvAFG

Test cricket is not easy. It can only get better for Afghanistan from here for they have it in them to improve. #IndvAfg

One of the biggest pluses was the length that Ishant Sharma bowled. The overs behind him in county cricket have helped.

Harsh welcome for Afghanistan to test cricket and the realisation that this form of cricket requires very different skills.
