Real Madrid lifted their third consecutive Champions League title, as they beat Liverpool.
The Spanish giants made history in a highly eventful final at Kiev, as they beat Liverpool . With this victory, Real Madrid won their third consecutive Champions League title, the first team ever to do so.
Liverpool started the game in emphatic fashion, creating chances after chances in the initial minutes of the game. The Reds received a blow when a clash with Sergio Ramos resulted in injury for Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian forward left the field teary-eyed, and soon, Dani Carvajal too went down injured and followed Salah. The first half ended at 0-0.
Karim Benzema opened the scoring in the second half with a huge goalkeeping error from Loris Karius. Liverpool reacted soon with Sadio Mane equalising, before Gareth Bale scored a screamer with an overhead kick.
Bale scored only 122 seconds after being subbed in for Isco. Bale scored his second goal as Karius made another howler, as Real Madrid overcame Liverpool 3-1 to win this year’s Champions League title.
Here are a few tweets from the game:
Not joking. That may be the best goal I’ve ever seen… good timing as well like!

“We got here together as a team and we lose as a team.”
Jordan Henderson isn’t blaming Loris Karius’ mistakes.

Analysis will be all about Karius now, which is a tragedy for the kid. But something truly disturbing watching Ramos lift the UCL trophy, when it was his cynical, pre-meditated, horrible, horrible assault on Mo Salah that changed the course of this game. Tainted victory #UCLfinal

Got to feel for Loris Karius.
He’s going to be crucified now, but at least he had the guts to man up & say sorry to Liverpool fans.
I respect that. #UCLfinal pic.twitter.com/MunMgl6mje— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) May 26, 2018

Loris Karius is 24 years of age, what he needs tonight is someone to put their arm around his shoulder and give him a few words of support not people tagging him in abusive tweets. #UCLfinal
