During the second ODI of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Adelaide, India middle-order batsman Ambati Rayudu’s mediocre innings saw him receiving a lot of criticism on social media platform Twitter.
After scoring 0 (2) in the first ODI at Sydney, Rayudu was expected to change contribute significantly for his personal form is also under scrutiny.
Rayudu came in to bat at No. 4 in the 18th over after vice-captain Rohit Sharma (43) got out. Rayudu stitched a 59-run partnership for the third wicket alongside captain Virat Kohli but never looked convincing in the middle.

Rayudu was lucky to last for 36 balls in the middle for he had skied the ball several times during his innings. To his like, the ball kept on landing in areas where no Australian fielder was present. Rayudu had given enough hints of being rusty in the middle, something which further didn’t aid his case.
On the fourth delivery of the 31st over, Rayudu’s attempt of hitting a Glenn Maxwell delivery saw him mis-timing the ball straight to Marcus Stoinis at deep midwicket. The 33-year old right-hand batsman ended up scoring 24 (36) with the help of two fours.
The fact that Kohli was at the other end and Rayudu merely had to play the second fiddle speaks highly about the disappointment which Rayudu’s failure has caused to the Indian fans.
While Rayudu has played in a middling manner in the first two ODIs, whether he will be given a go in the third ODI or not remains the big question.

Out of sorts Rayudu looked a casualty throughout his stay in the middle. Focus on Dhoni for obvious reasons, but for India to win, important that Kohli bats through

@BCCI ; I don’t care how many runs Rayudu scores but he for sure can’t be your #4 batsman; Rahane is the best we got at this moment: com’n Mr Gavaskar say something!!!

Rayudu, you just get out… Irritating to see all the loft shots with none connected #INDvsAUS

@vikrantgupta73 legend #rayudu took retirement from Ranji trophy and now not able to touch the ball. Is this a joke. Those who are playing ranji trophy, for national team selection, they will think they are fools. How can this happen?

Nothing more to say. Screw you everyone who hounded me for having the right opinion about Rayudu. I told you he’d shit against a better bowling line-up. Try him in NZ too, waste your time.

Really feel that Ambati Rayudu is not your solution for no.4 he will fail to deliver in big tournaments, get Shubham Gill in what say?

Don’t think this is a one-off case for MS or even Rayudu. Said it countless times that you can’t have 2 similarly limited players in the team. Thinking you can momentarily forget about the RR climbing with the hope that you can compensate later. Dhoni can’t, neither can Rayudu. https://t.co/skdgnjyGVs

Kohli has twice pointed Rayudu for not taking the extra run and rushing for the first one. He doesn’t like batting with him lol. His look on the face feels like someone has forced him to pick Rayudu. 🤣🤣

Why Ambati Rayudu in the team. Is it because of selectors partial to him #2ndODI
