4 Months After Bagging $2,700,000 on Israel Adesanya, Drake Places Another Massive Bet Ahead of UFC 293

$280 million worth Canadian rapper Drake is famous for betting on sports events and even big UFC fights. In the past, the rapper has gained notoriety by betting on UFC stars such as Jorge Masvidal, Justin Gaethje, Paddy Pimblett, and Conor McGregor. While this Canadian’s betting habit has led to huge financial losses on several occasions, he has also struck a fortune by winning certain bets. Now, Drake is eyeing to make a profit by correctly predicting the UFC 293 main event. Unsurprisingly, the Canadian rapper has placed his bet on Israel Adesanya. However, this is not the first time Drake has bet on ‘Izzy’, as four months ago he won $2.7 million at UFC 287 held on 9 April, by predicting Adesanya’s win.

The UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya will defend his title against Sean Strickland on 10th September in Australia. The majority of the MMA community is inclined towards Kiwi defending his title, as they believe that #5 ranked middleweight Strickland will not prove to be much of a challenge. The Canadian millionaire seems to be in tune with the MMA community, as clear by his huge bet on ‘Izzy’.

Drake has been on good terms with the Kiwi fighter for a long time. Furthermore, ‘The Last Stylebender‘ has a stellar record in UFC with 13 wins and only 2 losses.

Thus, considering this, it seems as if the rapper has taken the safer route while placing his bet and the odds back him up. Drake made an Instagram post about his $500,000 bet on the UFC 293 main event.

Drake’s bet on the UFC middleweight champion has odds of 1.84, which reflects his confidence in the prediction that Adesanya will not only emerge victorious, but will do so via a knockout.

Moreover, the Kiwi is also aware of the bet and has sent the Canadian rapper a message of assurance by commenting on his Instagram post. ‘Izzy’ wrote:

Dialed In

Whilst Drake has made a fortune by betting on the Kiwi fighter, it has not been smooth sailing all the time. In the past, the Canadian millionaire has lost huge sums of money while betting on Adesanya as well.

The Canadian rapper’s brief history of betting on Adesanya

Israel Adesanya was preparing for one of the biggest fights of his career against Alex Pereira at UFC 281 in November 2022. Moreover, Drake showed support for his friend ‘Izzy’ by placing a staggering $2 million bet on him. Nevertheless, he came up short during a thrilling final round at UFC 281 in November 2022, resulting in both friends experiencing losses on that night.

‘Izzy’ made amends for his loss by knocking out his Brazilian arch-rival in the rematch at UFC 287 in the second round of the fight. Moreover, despite his $2 million loss earlier, Drake did not shy away from supporting his friend in a career-defining fight by placing a $500,000 bet on his win and another $400,000 bet on a knockout victory. Since both of his predictions came true, it netted Drake a staggering $2.7 million return on his bet.

Whilst the Canadian rapper has made a lot of money from his bets on UFC fighters and Adesanya in particular. It remains unclear what the outcome would be this time around. But it is interesting to note that after previous debacles, the rapper chose to place a low and safe bet of $500,000 this time.
