Dana White reveals what Khabib told him after Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier at UFC 257

Dana White reveals what Khabib Nurmagomedov told him after Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier 2 at UFC 257 on Saturday night.

All through the build up to the main event of UFC 257, Conor McGregor attempted to goad Khabib Nurmagomedov into coming out of retirement. He claimed that he would beat Dustin Poirier in the first round itself. In the end, he failed to do both.

Poirier overcame McGregor in the 2nd round of their fight. In doing so, he has apparently led Khabib to believe that McGregor is not worth coming out of retirement for. In fact, he thinks that he is levels above both fighters from the UFC 257 main event.

“I did talk to Khabib,” UFC president Dana White told reporters at the conclusion of the PPV. “And he said to me, ‘Dana be honest with yourself. I’m so many levels above these guys, I beat these guys.’ I don’t know. But it doesn’t sound very positive. We’ll see.”

Khabib announced his retirement in October last year after his win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. Interestingly, his two matches before that were against Poirier and McGregor, both of which ‘The Eagle’ won convincingly.

It will be interesting to see where the three go from here. It seems unlikely that Khabib will return any time soon while McGregor will have his task cut out if he plans to climb to the top of the mountain once again.

Regardless of whether Khabib returns or not however, Poirier has made a good case for himself to be involved in the title picture once again. In the last 4 years, he has only lost once and won 7 times.

We will have to wait and see what the future brings for the Lightweight Division in regards to its championship title.
