Arsenal have confirmed Unai Emery’s appointment as the new manager of the club today.
Unai Emery has been confirmed as Arsenal boss today. The Spaniard replaces club’s long-serving manager Arsene Wenger, who was at the club for the past 22 years. Emery brings with himself a vast range of experience in football management. He has managed clubs in Spain, Russia and France.
Unai Emery beat former Arsenal player and once a favourite for the managerial position, Mikel Arteta, to become the manager at Arsenal.

- This is Unai Emery’s seventh club as manager. Before Arsenal, he has managed Lorca Deportiva, Almeria, Valencia, Spartak Moscow, Sevilla and Paris Saint Germain.
- The Spaniard was the most successful Ligue 1 manager in the history of Paris Saint Germain. He had a win ratio of 74%.
- Unai Emery is the only manager to have won three UEFA Europa League titles in a row. He won all the three titles with Sevilla FC between 2013-2016.
- He has won 10 major honours, which include a Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint Germain this season.
- Unai Emery will only become the second non-British manager in the history of Arsenal football club, after Arsene Wenger.
- Unai Emery has developed players like David Villa, Juan Mata, Jordi Alba and Ever Banega. All of them have achieved success at the club and international level.
- Unai Emery won the Miguel Munez trophy twice from 2005-07 in which a manager is scored out of three for each match, for his team’s performances.
Unai Emery has signed a £6million-a-year deal to become the next Arsenal manager. His basic pay would be £2million-a-season.
Mirror reports that the Spaniard’s bonuses would include getting Arsenal back in the Champions League next season. His salary would make him the sixth-highest paid manager in the Premier League.
