Neymar Transfer: PSG bring down asking price for Brazilian star but demand two players from Barcelona in a proposed player plus cash swap deal.

PSG bought Neymar to France in 2017 for a world record fee of £200 million (€222m). Their sole aim of being, winning a Champions League. That dream has eluded them so far despite picking up back to back Ligue 1 titles.

Neymar has been linked to a host of teams in the ongoing transfer season. Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona being the most notable. However, the Brazilian has expressed his desire to move to Barcelona and is said to regret ever leaving them.

With United not playing Champions League this season and Madrid not wanting to jeopardize a future Mbappe transfer, Barcelona remain the only prospective buyer for Neymar. PSG were said to be open to the sale but were adamant that they would not slash Neymar’s buyout clause.

However, French newspaper Le Parisien claim that PSG have reconsidered their stance on their star player. The paper has reported that PSG are willing to negotiate with Barcelona and will bring their prices down from €300 million to between 130 and 150 million euros alongside two key Barca players.

Spanish publication AS has suggested that the Philippe Coutinho, Ivan Rakitic and Samuel Umtiti are some possible options that the French Champions are looking to bring to the French Capital. All three of these stars have been linked to deals away from the club before.

Cavani on Neymar

Edinson Cavani, Neymar’s teammate at PSG gave his thoughts on the Brazilian leaving the club while talking to reporters during the Copa America. He said:

“I do not know what will happen, but as I said, I wish the best for him. I spoke with Neymar about his situation when we were in France. Now, during the Copa America, no, we do not talk. And with everything that is happening, I would say that he knows exactly what he should do. I know it’s a difficult time for him. Neymar has the charisma and ability to move forward. I hope he recovers; I wish him the best and he recovers [from injury] as quickly as possible.”

Neymar is currently out with Injury and is unable to participate in Brazil’s Copa America campaign. The former Barca star has scored 60 goals in 97 appearances for his country since making his debut at the age of 18 in 2010. The 27-year-old has also scored 51 goals in his 58 appearances for PSG.
