Ferrari are doing everything possible to ensure that the 2019 season is one where they can seriously challenge Mercedes and hopefully bring an end to their 5 year long run at the helm of the sport.
A change in personnel with respect to the ‘driving team’ and the overall strategy team means that Ferrari are working overtime in order to iron out issues that plagued the team in their last campaign.
One major issue that ultimately proved to be the deciding factor in the 2018 season was how Vettel’s silly mistakes helped Hamilton claw back into the title race.
Ferrari had the advantage with respect to pace and performance for a large part of the season, but couldn’t really set the ball rolling, largely because of errors on part of Vettel and Arrivabene.
Vettel was criticised for not keeping his cool when things did not go his way, and a lot of pundits had suggested him getting a mental coach, so as to help him sort out the demons in his head.
Going head-to-head with Hamilton in a title race is a daunting task and when things are not really going your way, one needs to be in a good head space to drive out all the demons.
Thus, Ferrari have been a little pro-active this season, and have assigned mental coaches to both Vettel and Leclerc.
According to reports, Vettel’s mental coach will be someone from his time at Red Bull.
Both Vettel and Leclerc will get mental coaches for the 2019 season. (Vettel‘s mental coach is someone from Red Bull)
Jock Clear will be Leclerc‘s race engineer while Vettel‘s race engineer will continue to be Riccardo Adami.#F1https://t.co/Lr57udCgGU

Do you think the ‘mental coaching’ will help Mercedes?
