Victor Lindelöf wins Man Utd fans over with brave block against Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne during the Manchester Derby in the Premier League.
Manchester United defeated Manchester City in the Premier League despite the odds being heavily stacked against them. United had been woeful on the road and they were travelling to the Etihad. Even those that backed a United victory, did so out of hope than conviction. Yet, Ole Gunnar Soslkjaer and his boys stood victorious at full time.

Almost everyone that took the field for United showed tremendous character and heart. Whether it was Lingard, James, Rashford, Martial or Fred. Everyone of them took the field with the intention to win. However, if there was one moment in the match that summarised United’s spirit last night it was when Victor Lindelöf braved a close-range strike from Kevin De Bruyne to deny an obvious goal.

In the 55th minute of the match, Manchester City came ferociously at United’s defence. The hosts channelled the ball to the right and found an empty De Bruyne who was stood for a perfect chance at the goal.
Lindelof then quickly tracked the ball and ensured that he would be an obstruction to the shot. He managed to get his feet on the ball, sending it away from the net, all the while keeping his hands behind his back to avoid giving away an unintentional penalty.
Impressed at how Lindelof maintains both hands behind him at such an intense moment. Clean block.

The reaction from the players and Lindelof shows how much the save meant to them. They celebrated it as if they had just scored themselves.

United have now registered two victories on the trot. More amazingly, the wins have come against two other big 6 sides; teams led by the Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, 2 of the best managers in the world. Their fans will hope that they can remain consistent with their performance and play as well against every other side as they have against the big 6 this season.
