Fan’s of the iconic British spy movie franchise can look forward to seeing 007 on a gaming screen. It was announced earlier that IO Interactive are working on an origin story about James Bond called Project 007.
Io Interactive are a Danish studio and are best known for the Hitman Series. Stealth was a major part in the Hitman Franchise and fans will be excited to see the same for 007. James Bond is no stranger to the gaming world and has a long history. Starting in 1983 for various 8-bit consoles.
The much appreciated game Goldeneye was released in 1997. Since then quite a few a few games were developed. Activision last held the rights for the spy but its reported that since 2013 no one owned the rights.
Project 007: the teaser trailer –
A short teaser was released by IO Interactive revealing that the studio will be behind the development of the game. The trailer included iconic snapshots as well as the James Bond theme.
The game is in development mainly in Sweden and Denmark offices of the studio. On their website CEO Hakan Abrak confirmed in a statement that the game will be an original and brand new James Bond story.
What we know so far –
IO Interactive will be co operating with MGM, Eon Productions, and Delphi to create a “wholly original Bond story exclusively as a video game.” The game will presumably be developed for higher consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X and for PC.
Although no further details were revealed, fans can expect the game to be released in later part of 2021 or after. As Hitman 3 is expected to release first. Hasan Abrak further added, “Our passionate team is excited to unleash their creativity into the iconic James Bond universe and craft the most ambitious game in the history of our studio.”
The news has gone down well with fans as IOI were appreciated for their Hitman franchise. One could say Project 007 is in good hands.
