Vijay Shankar Injury Update: BCCI provide major update on Shankar ahead of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

Vijay Shankar Injury Update: Board of Control for Cricket in India have uploaded a video of Vijay Shankar batting in the nets.

The video of India all-rounder Vijay Shankar batting in the nets has come as a source of respite for the plentiful Indian fans ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The right-hand batsman was hit by a Khaleel Ahmed delivery during one of India’s net sessions before the first warm-up match against New Zealand.

It was due to the same that Shankar didn’t take part in the warm-up match and opening batsman Lokesh Rahul was seen batting at No. 4. With Shankar regaining fitness now, expect him to bat at No. 4 in India’s second warm-up match against Bangladesh tomorrow.

The given position has been a bone of contention for India. Despite trying several players, the team management has failed to convincingly name one batsman for the concerned position.

Having made his ODI debut in Australia earlier this year, a few praiseworthy knocks in the middle-order saw him staking a claim for the same. In nine ODIs, Shankar has scored 165 runs at an average of 33 and a strike rate of 96.49.

Possessing skills of both rotating the strike and playing the big shots, Shankar has it in him to cement his place at No. 4. The team management would be hoping for him to justify his potential not just in the second warm-up match but throughout the tournament.
