The regular test team members like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, along with former captain MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Yuzvendra Chahal and Suresh Raina took the test, as was reported by ESPNCricinfo.
The ‘Yo-Yo’ test bar was recently raised from 16.1 to 16.3 by team’s head coach Ravi Shastri. Earlier, India received a major blow when the team’s key fast bowler Mohammad Shami failed the fitness test.
India’s A batsman Sanju Samson also failed the ‘Yo-Yo’ test, and was replaced by Ishan Kishan for the ‘A’ tours to England and West Indies.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli was suffering from neck injury, which he sustained during the IPL season. The injury ruled him out of his county stint with Surrey.
Ahmedabad Mirror earlier reported that Ravi Shastri made strict guidelines about the fitness test, making it mandatory for all the players. Failure to take the fitness test would make the player ineligible for national selection, claimed Ahmedabad Mirror.
“Ravi has instructed that every player must pass the Yo-Yo test. He has taken the decision keeping in view the tough overseas assignments for the team, including next year’s World Cup,” Deccan Chronicle quoted their source as saying.
