The Indian Head Coach saga has been going on for sometime now. The tenure of the present coach, Anil Kumble, is set to come to an end after the Champions Trophy, and  BCCI has already started the process of hiring the next Indian Head Coach(Anil Kumble is on the shortlist too).

BCCI invited applications for the post last week and has released a shortlist of 6 candidates, including Anil Kumble. All the applicants will have to go through an interview round with the CAC, stating their agendas for the team and how they’ll look to take Indian cricket forward during their tenure.

The shortlisted candidates are; Virender Sehwag, Lalchand Rajput, Dodda Ganesh, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus and Anil Kumble.

Virender Sehwag was apparently approached by a BCCI official to apply for the post of the Head Coach, but Viru later denied any such approach. A week later, he is one of the shortlisted candidates for the post, so apparently he applied for the post without anyone asking him to do so.

Sehwag has sent in a two line resume according to a BCCI official.

“Sehwag being Sehwag has sent his application in two lines. There was no CV attached to it. We had to ask him to send his CV too along with his application. After all, it will be the first time he is set to appear for the interview,” a BCCI source told Indian Express.

His application read “mentor and a coach of Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League and has played with all these (Indian) boys before”

Sehwag was a part of the commentary team for the Champions Trophy but he has returned to India and will be appearing for the interview on skype. Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman are on the selection panel and will be interviewing all the shortlisted candidates.
