Vivo IPL Election Se Selection: Star Sports launch campaign ahead of IPL 2020 auction

Vivo IPL Election Se Selection: The host broadcaster has started an intriguing campaign to bolster engagement ahead of IPL 2020 auction.

The much-awaited auction ahead of the next season of the Indian Premier League is just over a week away. Despite not being a mega auction, the one-day affair will decide the fate of a maximum of 73 players on December 19.

After the deadline for all the traded players ended last month, franchises also made public their respective lists of retained and released players ahead of IPL 2020 auction.

Meanwhile, IPL broadcaster Star Sports has come up with yet another season of ‘Election Se Selection’ to bolster engagement ahead of the auction. The online contest allows fans to share their opinion regarding some of the key players/franchises.

As far as this auction is considered, the channel has asked fans to vote with respect to which franchise will buy 10 top names in the auction.

The players involved are South Africa batsman David Miller and all-rounder Chris Morris, New Zealand batsman Martin Guptill and pacer Tim Southee, Australia batsman Chris Lynn and all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, India wicket-keeper batsman Robin Uthappa, West Indies batsmen Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer and England all-rounder Sam Curran.

It is worth mentioning that all of the above mentioned names had been part of IPL 2019 and were subsequently released on the back of below par performances with Lynn and Curran being exceptions.

Given the ballyhoo regarding the tournament, the campaign has already been a success for Star Sports. It will be interesting to know the final result of what people think will be the right buys for each franchise.
