WATCH: AB de Villiers nails reverse scoop off Junior Dala in MSL 2019

AB de Villiers nails reverse scoop: The veteran Spartans’ batsman played some outstanding shots against Bay Giants last night.

During the 23rd match of the ongoing second season of the Mzansi Super League between Nelson Mandela Bay Giants and Tshwane Spartans in Port Elizabeth, veteran Tshwane Spartans batsman AB de Villiers played some outstanding shots to score his T20 half-century.

Playing in his quintessential manner, the -year old batsman scored freely around the ground. It is worth mentioning that his best shot came in the same over in which he got out.

On the third delivery of the 18th over, de Villiers went down on one knee to play a reverse sweep off Nelson Mandela Bay Giants pacer Junior Dala. Having hit the ball precisely over the wicket-keeper’s head, de Villiers got four deserving runs for the innovative shot.

de Villiers, who hit both a couple of sixes and fours in the same over, did enough damage before getting out on the last delivery. Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the seventh over, de Villiers ended up scoring 63 (38) with the help of six fours and two sixes.

After Spartans captain Heinrich Klaasen won the toss and chose to bat, the visiting team scored an impressive 188/5 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. With bowling figures of 4-0-28-2, veteran spinner Imran Tahir was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts.

The home team sealed a 189-run chase in the last over on the back of wicket-keeper batsman Ben Dunk scoring a match-winning 99* (54) with the help of 10 fours and four sixes.
