WATCH: Alonso takes dig at Vettel and Kimi when asked about not winning with Ferrari
Fernando Alonso endured a painful time with Ferrari, one where he couldn’t win a world title. It was a difficult time for Ferrari as an institution, as they weren’t quite able to dish out a god enough car and the team was marred by some internal struggles as well.
They resurrected themselves in 2017, coming a little closer to Mercedes, but still finding themselves way behind them in the constructor’s championship.
This season has been one where after a long time Ferrari have been able to take the fight to Mercedes and have put in a good enough challenge for the constructor’s championship. Unfortunately this time too, Mercedes proved to be a little too good for them.
Ferrari’s last champion is Kimi Raikkonen, who won it in 2007, when a dramatic final race helped Kimi beat the stiff McLaren challenge of Alonso and rookie Hamilton.
Vettel has found it tough ever since his move from Red Bull to Ferrari, being unable to add to his 4 world titles from his time at Red Bull.
Kimi has largely played second fiddle in his present Ferrari stint and thus hasn’t really contested for the title.
Now, in a recent interview, Alonso was asked by a fan how he felt about not having been able to win the title with Ferrari.
Alonso was in no mood to just the let the question pass and decided to take a dig at both Kimi and Vettel while answering it.
Fan: What happened to you that you couldn’t be world champion with Ferrari(rough Spanish translation)
Alonso: Same thing as Kimi and Vettel now
