WATCH: Babar Azam corrects journalist who mistook Bangladesh as Sri Lanka
Babar Azam corrects journalist: The Pakistani batsman didn’t shy away from rectifying a journalist during a press conference.
During the first Test of the ongoing Bangladesh’s tour of Pakistan in Rawalpindi, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 44 runs to register a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
Opening batsman Shan Masood (100) and batsman Babar Azam (143) scoring individual centuries in the first innings aided Pakistan to post a formidable score of 445 in 122.5 overs.
Trailing by 212 runs at the start of their second innings, Bangladesh were bundled out for 168 in 62.2 overs on the back of Pakistan fast bowler becoming the youngest player to register a hat-trick.
Shah’s bowling figures of 8.2-2-26-4 before him leaving the field due to a niggle saw him being the pick of the Pakistani bowlers in the second innings. Other than Naseem Shah, spinner Yasir Shah (17.2-3-58-4) was also among the wickets.
While Pakistan completed the victory on the morning of Day 4 today, a press conference after the completion of Day 3 left everyone in splits for a Pakistani journalist mistook Bangladesh as Sri Lanka.
It is worth mentioning that the same journalist had mistaken Sri Lanka wicket-keeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella as all-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva during Sri Lanka’s tour of Pakistan last year.
“Babar [Azam], mera naam Asad Ali Mubarak hai. Kya planning hai? Kya Sri Lanka ki team ko kal pehle session mein out kar lenge [Babar, my name is Asad Ali Mubarak. What’s the planning? Will you be able to dismiss Sri Lanka in the first session tomorrow],” the journalist asked Azam who was attending the presser from the home team.
