WATCH: Bangladeshi fans switch on mobile flashlights to enlighten stadium after power failure in first T20I

Bangladeshi fans switch on mobile flashlights: The Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka saw an unreal yet beautiful sight.

During the first T20I of the ongoing Bangladesh Tri-Nation series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe at Mirpur, a power failure at the stadium forced the game to be stopped in the first innings.

It all happened after the penultimate over of the Zimbabwean innings when the visitors registered a stellar comeback into the match. With the match receiving a halt, the fans present in the stadium switched on flashlights on their mobile phones to lighten up the stadium.

A video uploaded by a fan has gone viral on social media. The scenes look beautiful as the whole stadium is seen covered with white lights.

As far as the match is concerned, Bangladesh sealed a 145-run target in the last over. It was a match-winning 72-run partnership for the seventh wicket between Mosaddek Hossain (30*) and Afif Hossain (52) which saw the hosts winning the match after being reduced to 29/4 in the fifth over.

Playing only his third T20I, Afif scored 52 (26) with the help of eight fours and a six to give his team a much-needed momentum. The 19-year old southpaw was declared the ‘Man of the Match’.

After Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and put Zimbabwe in to bat, the visitors scored 144/5 in their allotted quota of 18 overs. The pair of Ryan Burl (57) and Tinotenda Mutombodzi (27) stitched an unbeaten 81-run partnership for the sixth wicket to post a healthy total on the board. The match will also be remembered for Burl scoring 30 runs off Shakib’s over.
