WATCH: Ben Stokes hilariously reveals 'secret diet' which he took before heroic innings at Headingley

Ben Stokes hilariously reveals ‘secret diet’: The English all-rounder opened up on what he ate after Day 3 of the Headingley Test.

Since playing the unreal innings against Australia at Headingley last night, England all-rounder Ben Stokes has been doing the rounds in the media and rightly so. Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 60th over, Stokes chased down a 359-run target with his eighth Test century.

With England losing as many as five wickets for just 45 runs, chances of them sealing the chase were bleak. Stokes, who saw all these batsmen walking back to the pavilion, seemed unperturbed by Australian bowlers smelling victory.

Despite all the difficulties, the 30-year old cricketer kept on finding ways to get going till England registered their first win of the series. Stokes stitching a 76-run partnership for the 10th wicket alongside England spinner Jack Leach is currently the second-best stand for the last wicket in Tests.

On the third day of the Test, Stokes was the pick of the English bowlers as he dismissed three Australian batsmen in the second innings. More than the wickets, Stokes nearly bowling 25 overs in a day speaks highly of his fitness for it is no mean task to bowl those many overs and follow it with a gargantuan innings.

Speaking during the post-match presentation ceremony, Stokes was asked about how he recovered on Day 3. With the reporter asking him about what he ate and how well he slept, Stokes ended up giving a detailed answer.

“My wife and kids came down and they got there [hotel] at around 10 o’clock. My wife walked into me eating pasta in my boxer shorts. Last night, I think I had a knockoff Nandos and two bars of Yorkie biscuit and raisin,” Stokes was quoted as saying.

Being asked if that was the food for the match-winning innings, Stokes replied, “And a couple of coffees in the morning [laughs].”
