Barcelona may have pipped Real when it comes to Spain. However, Real Madrid dominated like no other by winning four Champions League in five years; Three of which came on the trot. Cristiano Ronaldo was right in the middle of all those victories and cemented himself as a legend in the Pantheon of all the greats that have worn the club emblem before him.

While Ronaldo may have left Real Madrid last season, the fans are still in awe of him and want him playing for them once again. With good reason might we add. Real Madrid has been in shambles ever since the forward left for Italy.

The Fall of Real Madrid

Real Madrid followed their Champions League hat-trick by bowing out to Ajax at the Round of 16 in champions league last season. They were never in any position to even challenge for the La Liga as Barcelona ran through everyone else. They even saw the back of two managers and called Zinedine Zidane back out of desperation.

The team have reinforced under Zidane’s watchful eyes. However, dismal performances in the pre-season has refused to induce confidence in the team. Ronaldo on the other hand, won the Serie A title with Juventus and is now aiming to win the European Championship this season.

Following his contribution to football as a player, Marca have recognised his brilliance by awarding him with the Marca Legends award. He was present in Madrid, Spain on Monday to receive the prestigious honor. Cristiano Ronaldo is the only player in the world to have won Serie A, LaLiga Santander and the Premier League. Madrid misses him and so does he. But the Portuguese has his mind set on winning the Champions League with his new team.

Ronaldo, 34, has won the Champions League five times in his illustrious career, once with Manchester United and four times with Real. One more triumph, and he will join Francisco Gento as the only players to have won it six times. He would also become only the second player, after Clarence Seedorf, to win the trophy with three different clubs.
