The London Derby had produced a drab 0-0 at Stamford Bridge earlier this season, and with the festive fixtures packed up, it seemed as if we could be heading for another drab draw at the Emirates tonight.

But the Arsenal and Chelsea players turned up big time, shrugging off any kind of hangover from the holiday period to produce a brilliant first half of attacking football.

Both sets of keepers produced brilliant saves and had to rely on some poor finishing from the forwards to keep the match at a stalemate at half time.

The second half saw the same tempo continue, and Arsenal’s slick play in the final third meant that the ball conveniently fell in the path of Wilshere, who pounced on it big time to produce an emphatic finish. 1-0 it was for Arsenal, but the game had more goals in it.

Eden Hazard continued driving at the Arsenal defence and ended being brought down by Bellerin in the box in controversial circumstances to provide Chelsea with a chance to equalise.

Hazard then stepped up to take the penalty and cooly slotted it in to get Chelsea right back into the game.
