Watch: Dale Steyn obliges RCB fans and chants their slogan post a BBL match. The next season will be Steyn’s third stint with the franchise before.

Dale Steyn was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore at his base price in the third round of last month’s auction. This will be his third time turning out for the club after starting his IPL career with the side back in 2008 before joining as an injury replacement last year.

Steyn has begun his life as an RCB player by winning the fans over by chanting their slogan ahead of the upcoming season. Steyn, who is currently in Australia, playing for the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League, was signing autographs at the conclusion of the Melbourne derby, before an RCB fan asked him to chant, RCB’s famous slogan, ‘Ee Sala Cup Namde’ which means ‘This year, the cup is ours’.

The fast bowler happily obliged and chanted the line twice before going on to add “Go RCB!” to conclude the video.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are one of the most followed teams in the Indian Premier league. However, they are yet to win the IPL despite playing in 3 finals. In fact, the side are yet to make the playoffs since qualifying for the final way back in 2016!

RCB fans have become increasingly desperate for the championship. The slogan was made famous last year when the fans continued to chant the same despite the poor performances from the side. This time, fans will hope to make the chant under different circumstances. While RCB have always been a batting heavy unit, Steyn will hope to be the decisive factor to give the team a much more balanced look this season.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
