During the 24th match of the ongoing fifth season of the Pakistan Super League between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi in Lahore, Peshawar Zalmi batsman Haider Ali received a massive reprieve as the bails didn’t fall down despite the ball hitting the stumps.
It all happened on the first delivery of the 11th over when Ali’s attempt to flick a delivery from Lahore Qalandars all-rounder David Wiese saw him getting beaten.

With the ball ricocheting off his thigh pad, it hit his elbow before hitting the stumps. The unfortunate development denied the hosts a wicket as they saw Ali and Shoaib Malik (62) stitch a 116-run partnership for the fourth wicket to propel their team to 187/7 in 20 overs.
Having scored 69 (43) with the help of four fours and four sixes, 19-year old Ali became the youngest batsman to score a half-century in the history of the tournament in addition to top-scoring for his team.
Ali’s efforts resulted in vain as Qalandars sealed the chase on the penultimate delivery. Following half-centuries from Fakhar Zaman (63) and Chris Lynn (59), it was a 12-ball 29-run stand between Wiese (17) and Samit Patel (11) which saw Lahore defeating Peshawar for the first time since 2016.

Haider Ali is the youngest batsman to score 50 in PSL breaking Hussain Talat’s record. His 69 off 43 balls was a brilliant counter attacking inns after Peshawar lost three early wickets. Shame that he ended up in the losing side. #LQvPZ
