Will MS Dhoni play next year’s IPL: CSK captain answers million dollar question after IPL Final vs MI with the World Cup almost here

MS Dhoni was disappointed after CSK’s loss to MI in the IPL 2019 final, as he felt that the batting unit let them down all through the season. While the openers played their part, the middle order batsmen were not consistent and have to shoulder a lot of blame.

The CSK captain was quick to appreciate the bowling unit though, who according to him played a massive role in carrying CSK to the IPL 2019 final.

Sanjay Manjrekar interviewed him post the game and tried to get an insight into how CSK would treat this loss and if fundamental changes would be made in the setup before IPL 2020.

The most important question though came at the end, when Dhoni was quizzed about his availability for next year’s IPL, and he replied with a slight affirmative.

“Hopefully yes” said Dhoni, a two word comment that would help every CSK fan sleep better tonight, despite that crushing last ball loss to MI.

In his post match comments, Dhoni emphasised on the fact that he and the players would now go off to the World Cup and only on their return would they get back to the drawing board and start getting things in place for next year’s IPL.

“We have to go to our drawing board, and there is no real time for that now. We need to go into the World Cup and after that we need to see the gaps that we can fill. Nothing against the bowlers, it’s the batsmen who need to step up.” Dhoni said.

It was a cracker of an IPL final, one that would be etched in the hearts of cricket fans forever, and one that people can talk about before they shift focus to the ‘Men in Blue’.
