With match tilting in New Zealand’s favour, Jasprit Bumrah was tasked with winning the match and with it the series for India last night.

And he did not disappoint as the young fast bowler kept his cool and took India to victory. Bumrah was involved in the turning point of the match when he ran out the dangerous Latham with just two overs to go.

Latham was playing another brilliant innings and was well on course to take his team home. But his dream of giving his country their first bilateral series triumph in India ended abruptly, as he was run out after a mix up with his partner.

Bumrah had beaten the batsman and the ball found its way to Dhoni. Latham wanted a single and had come charging down the pitch only to be sent back to the non-striker’s end. Dhoni, calm as you like, threw the ball to Bumrah who took aim and knocked over the stumps.

Dhoni though was seen laughing after the dismissal, as he was afraid Bumrah would miss the stumps. The bowler had ample time to get back and dislodge the bails with the ball in hand, but he chose not to do so.

After the match, Bumrah spoke about that dismissal and mentioned that Dhoni did not want him to throw the ball.

“I mostly try to keep my head calm. I think that gives the best chance to execute. I should have gone to the stumps and taken it down (talking about Latham’s run-out). It was good that I could hit the stumps. A similar thing happened in England as well, that’s probably why he (Dhoni) was laughing”.
