During the third ODI of the ongoing India’s tour of New Zealand at Mount Maunganui, India all-rounder Hardik Pandya put on display an acrobatic piece of fielding as he grabbed a stunner at short mid-wicket to dismiss New Zealand captain Kane Williamson.
It all happened on the second ball of the 17th over when Williamson’s attempt of stepping out and hitting the ball towards the leg side saw him mis-timing his flick due to the dip on the ball.
That was a fielder’s wicket, absolutely stunning catch from Hardik Pandya. #NZvInd

With the ball going in the air towards the midwicket region, Pandya dived to his left and caught the ball whilst in the air. Pandya’s effort left everyone shell-shocked. His catch also speaks highly about his fitness even after not playing at the highest level for quite sometime now.
Williamson, who was in the midst of rescue act along senior batsman Ross Taylor, failed to capitalise on his start as he ended up scoring 28 (48) with the help of four fours. While it Chahal’s first wicket of the day, the Kiwis ended up losing their third.

Pandya, who was recently suspended because of his appearance on a renowned TV show, had made his comeback in this match. Having last played for India in September 2018, the all-rounder would be pleased to contribute to the team’s cause. Liked by one and all, the effort will surely boost him with much-needed confidence.
Earlier, the news of former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni missing this match due to a hamstring strain came as a shocking update for the Indian fans.
