Harmanpreet Kaur helps an ill mascot during national anthem

Harmanpreet Kaur helps an ill mascot during national anthem: The Indian captain carried the ill girl in her arms.

During the fifth match of the ongoing Women’s World T20 between India and Pakistan at Guyana, India defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets to register their second victory in as many matches in the tournament.

After India captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and chose to field, Indian bowlers restricted their arch-rivals to 133-7 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. It was a 93-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Bismah Maroof (53) and Nida Dar (52) which propelled Pakistan to a respectable total.

With bowling figures of 4-0-22-2, leg-spinner Poonam Yadav was the pick of the Indian bowlers.

On the back of Mithali Raj’s 16th T20I half-century, India sealed the chase with an over and seven wickets remaining. In what earned her the ‘Player of the Match’ award, Raj ended up scoring 56 (47) with the help of seven fours.

Despite India’s clinical performance with both the bat and the ball, what earned the highlight post the match was a video of Kaur which went viral on social media.

The incident happened before the match during the national anthem when the young mascot standing in front of Kaur fell ill. During the national anthem, Kaur was seen holding on to the girl and just after it finished, Kaur carried the girl in her arms and handed her over to the concerned individual.

Kaur’s benevolent act saw plentiful praises come her way after the video went viral. Having already allured the attention of fans around the globe by scoring her maiden T20I century in the opening match of the tournament, the 29-year old Indian captain’s deeds saw her doing the same again yesterday.
