Sachin Tendulkar praises MS Dhoni's last over heroics and overall knock vs West Indies at Manchester | Cricket World Cup 2019

Sachin Tendulkar praises MS Dhoni’s final over dash and his involvement in crucial partnerships against West Indies in Manchester

The Indian Team completely outplayed West Indies in the Match no.34 of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 by 125 runs to carry on with their unbeaten winning streak in the tournament so far. The Windies unfortunately crash out of the tournament on the back of some consistent careless Cricket, especially with the bat throughout.

On the other hand, Team India was as clinical as ever, especially in the bowling department, with well executed plans and strategies throughout the six matches they have played in the tournament so far.

MS Dhoni’s instrumental knock of 56 off 61, consisting of 3 fours and 2 sixes proved to be a game-changing innings at hindsight, keeping in consideration the slow, sluggish Old Trafford track on which the match progressed throughout.

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar too, was in all praise of the wicket-keeper batsman for his crucial knock. It is worth mentioning that Tendulkar, had criticised MS Dhoni for his rather slowish knock (28 off 52) against Afghanistan, blaming him for exhibiting ‘lack of intent’ during the middle overs.

“Partnership between Dhoni and Pandya was the game-changer”- Tendulkar

The legendary batsman initially praised the partnership between Dhoni and skipper Virat Kohli (72 off 82), which according to him gradually picked up. He then, termed the 70-run partnership between Dhoni and Hardik Pandya (46 off 38) as a game-changer one in the first innings, which boosted the Indian total to 268/7 in the allotted 50 overs.

He finally hailed Dhoni for his last over exploits (for which he is popular over the years). He was particularly impressed with him for the fact that, he farmed the strike with him for all the six deliveries of the 50th over, which ultimately garnered him 16 vital runs.
