During the third match of the ongoing Road Safety World Series between India Legends and Sri Lanka Legends in Mumbai, India Legends all-rounder Irfan Pathan put on display his all-rounder instincts to seal a five-wicket victory.
Chasing a 139-run target, India were reduced to 62/4 in the 11th over. Coming in to bat at No. 6, Pathan single-handedly score a quickfire half-century to win the match in the penultimate over.
Having scored 57* (31) with the help of six fours and three sixes, Pathan was India’s top-scorer in a match which saw the likes of Sachin Tendulkar (0), Virender Sehwag (3) and Yuvraj Singh (1) getting out cheaply.

Pathan’s 58-run match-winning partnership with India pacer Manpreet Gony (11*) saw him taking the Sri Lankan bowlers to cleaners. The 35-year old reminded one and all of his similar performance alongside elder brother Yusuf Pathan when the pair stitched a match-winning 59-run stand for the eighth wicket against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2009.
After India Legends captain Tendulkar won the toss and invited the visitors in to bat, Sri Lanka Legends scored 138/8 in 20 overs. Having scored 23 (17) with the help of three fours, Sri Lanka’s Chamara Kapugedera was their top run-getter. With bowling figures of 4-0-19-4, Munaf Patel was the pick of the Indian bowlers.

Today wasn’t the first time when Irfan Pathan took away a game from Lanka.
Here’s a clip of both ‘Pathan brothers’ thrashing Lankan bowlers all around the park in what seemed like a difficult chase.
