WATCH: Jasprit Bumrah dismisses Hashim Amla to pick up his first World Cup wicket against South Africa at Southampton

India finally commence their World Cup campaign against the South Africans at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. It was the Proteas Skipper Faf du Plessis, who won the toss and elected to bat first in what looks like an excellent batting pitch, with a decent covering of white grass (not green).
However, the Indian team fans were greeted with some good news quite early on as India’s fast bowling sensation, Jasprit Bumrah picked up the all-important and prized wicket of the veteran South African batsman Hashim Amla in only the 4th over of the match.
23 days ago some mercy and amazing gesture for DeKock, but today no mercy . Jasprit

Talking about the dismissal, it was the 2nd delivery of the 4th over, when Bumrah bowled a nearly perfect delivery outside the off-stump- at what we call it the corridor of uncertainty. Amla, in his usual natural tendency to shuffle as he plays the delivery, poked at the 140 km/h pacy delivery only to get a thick outside edge of his blade. Rohit Sharma, who was stationed at the second slip, made no mistake as he held on to a good low catch to his right hand side.
Rohit Sharma, soon after the catch, was seen celebrating the same with some pretty unique dance moves, which acted as a cherry on the top for the viewers and the Southampton crowd.
Ravindra Jadeja misses out
Talking about the much discussed team combination, which was subject to quite some discussions off-late, Kohli has gone for the same eleven men who formed the core during their 6-1 victory against South Africa in the limited overs series in 2018.
The team management has opted for the two specialist wrist spinners, and two pacers, along with the all-round services of Hardik Pandya and Kedar Jadhav. All rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was brilliant against New Zealand in the first Warm-up match on May 25, has not been included in the Playing 11 for today’s opening match against South Africa.
Pacer Mohammed Shami will also not be a part of the Indian Playing 11 today, as Kohli has opted for only two fast bowlers- Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar.
