WATCH: Jesse Lingard scores an absolute screamer to give Manchester United the lead

Manchester United were left scratching their head all through the game, with Derby County presenting a stout defence, and brilliant counter attacking play to keep United at bay at Old Trafford.

Pogba, Mata, Herera, Rashford and Lingard were linking up well, but they just were not able to break the deadlock, as Derby played some compact football at the back.

And that was not all, Derby looked threatening on the counter too, playing with composure upfront and giving Romero a run for his money. The Argentine goalkeeper had to come up with a couple of brilliant saves to help Manchester United maintain the stalemate.

However, when it seemed like the game could be headed for a draw, Lingard, like has done so many times this season, came up with a wonder strike to put United in the lead.

The ball was played upfront into Pogba, who played it back to Lingard, who took that thunderous half volley to deposit it into the top corner.
