Mata's reaction on De Gea's saves

Mata’s reaction on De Gea’s saves: David de Gea made 11 saves in the second half to ensure a victory against Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United registered their sixth consecutive victory under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the side beat Tottenham 1-0.

Marcus Rashford scored the only goal of the match at the brink of halftime after Paul Pogba delivered a wondrous assist.

The second half was all about Tottenham leading consistent attacks on Manchester United’s defence. However, they failed to breach David de Gea, who put on a world-class performance in front of the goal.

With this win, Manchester United are now level on points with the fifth-placed Arsenal, and reduce the gap with Tottenham to seven points.

Mata’s reaction on De Gea’s saves:

David de Gea made an astonishing 11 saves in the second half to deny a goal for Tottenham’s attackers. The Spanish goalkeeper was awarded with the man of the match award for his performance.

Tottenham’s manager Mauricio Pochettino called the goalkeeper’s performance ‘unbelievable’ in the post-match interview, while Solskjaer also laid down heaps of praises for the Manchester United no.1.

The caretaker manager also stated that De Gea has the qualities to replace legendary Manchester United goalkeepers, Peter Schmeichel and Edwin van der Sar as United’s best keeper in the club’s history.

“We’ve had some great goalkeepers at this club, but he’s challenging both Edwin and Peter for the number-one spot, historically,” Solskjaer said.

As David de Gea applauded the fans after the full-time whistle in the game against Tottenham Hotspur, Juan Mata had the perfect reaction for the player.

Mata, who is also a teammate of the goalkeeper with Spain, had his hands on his head and was visibly overawed with De Gea’s performance, as the goalkeeper came to hug him after the match.

Here’s the video:

David de Gea has had a rather difficult season with Manchester United so far, as this was the goalkeeper’s only third clean sheet in the league. The worries in front of the goal have often been aggravated due to the errors committed by defenders.

What next?

Manchester United will now face Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League next weekend.
