WATCH: Kimi Raikkonen’s amazing car control during wet conditions in Free Practice
Kimi Raikkonen has entered his final leg as a Ferrari driver and will be hoping to end things with Ferrari on a high.
Things though aren’t quite going according to plan for Kimi Raikkonen, as Ferrari have struggled to find the required pace in the second half of the season(especially in the last few races).
Thus, neither Raikkonen nor Vettel have really put up a stiff challenge agains Mercedes and things have gone awry for the Italian team.
From what has transpired in the free practice, it seems as if the United States weekend too could be a drab one for Ferrari and Kimi.
Kimi had put in 7 laps during FP2 yesterday and managed a time of 1:53:443, something that was only good enough for 9th place.
Now, Ferrari struggled with their wet weather tyres for grip and performance. However, a massive gap from Mercedes could mean that Ferrari had a lot of fuel on board, hence resulting in the massive gap in lap timings.
If that was the case, Ferrari’s tactics should be seriously questioned, as the weather could be wet for most parts of qualifying today, and hence Ferrari should have gotten some practice under their belt in qualifying like setup.
The moment of the day for Ferrari came when Raikkonen, who was driving in tough wet conditions, managed to drift and manage the car brilliantly on a turn.; a move that did interest a lot of F1 fans.
