WATCH: Leo Carter hits six consecutive sixes off Anton Devcich in Super Smash 2019-20

Leo Carter hits six consecutive sixes off Anton Devcich: Canterbury’s batsman joined the elite list of batsmen hitting six sixes in an over.

During the 22nd match of the ongoing season of Super Smash between Canterbury and Northern Districts in Christchurch, Canterbury batsman Leo Carter hit six sixes in an over to enter the elite list of batsmen to have achieved the milestone.

It all happened on the 16th over of the second innings when when the left-handed Carter took on the left-arm spin of Devcich. Irrespective of the bowler bowling around or over the wicket, Carter ended up clobbering the ball towards the leg-side on all six occasions.

With Canterbury needing 64 runs off the last five overs, Carter scoring six sixes in an over reduced the equation to them needing 28 runs in the last four overs.

Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 11th over, Carter top-scored for Canterbury with 70* (29) with the help of three fours and seven sixes to help his team chase a 220-run target in the penultimate over.

After Northern Districts captain Dean Brownlie won the toss and chose to bat, they scored 219/7 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. It was a 119-run stand for the second wicket between Northern Districts wicket-keeper batsman Tim Seifert (74) and Brownlie (55) which aided them to post a handsome total albeit in a losing cause.
