WATCH: MS Dhoni hits innovative paddle sweep to Sri Lankan captain Thisara Perrera
India got off to the perfect start against Sri Lanka at the Barabati stadium in Cuttack, with the openers, Rahul and Rohit, getting a few boundaries in the powerplay and rotating strike with ease.
Rohit Sharma was picked up by Angelo Mathews, when the ball hit high on his bat while he was going for that pull shot over mid wicket.
Shreyas Iyer and Rahul then constructed a partnership before Shreyas nicked one to the keeper and out came MS Dhoni.
MS Dhoni walked out with a lot of intensity tonight and looked his normal self from ball one. But the moment of the match came in the 18th over, when a slower one from Perera on the leg side was swept away like a tennis backhand by MS Dhoni. It was almost like Sachin Tendulkar’s famous paddle sweep, one’s that he used to unleash against Shane Warne, whenever he used to operate from round the wicket.
