Neymar’s arrival in Paris was supposed to help PSG announce themselves in European football, and while it has helped them do that, there have been reports of some rifts between team mates, especially directed towards Neymar, because of the special privileges that the Brazilian gets at Parc des Princes.
And the biggest of them broke out on the pitch, when Neymar and Cavani fought over penalty duties, with the Uruguyan not willing to give up penalty duties. The rift was all over social media, with reports coming in of Neymar actually demanding Unai Emery and the PSG president of providing him with the penalty duties.
But the feud had died down in the past few weeks, with the duo seen ‘heavily celebrating’ with each other on the pitch during Ligue 1 and Champions League games.
However, yesterday’s game against Troyes reignited those old scars between Neymar and Cavani, when Cavani asked Neymar to step aside from the penalty spot, so that Cavani could take the penalty, which he ultimately ended up missing.
Neymar was left with no option but to give his strike partner the spot kick, and while they did not create as much of a fuss as last time, it did give all of us a clear indication that Emery still hasn’t been able to sort out the penalty duties issue at PSG.
