WATCH: Ravi Ashwin bowls with peculiar action for Dindigul Dragons in Tamil Nadu Premier League

Ravi Ashwin bowls with peculiar action: Dragons captain was seen promoting a new action in the Tamil Nadu Premier League.

During the first match of the ongoing fourth season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League between Dindigul Dragons and Chepauk Super Gillies at Dindigul, Dindigul Dragons captain Ravichandran Ashwin put on display a peculiar bowling action which saw him almost bowling without an orthodox action.

Known for coming up with inventive bowling variations, it was the action which the senior player aimed to change this time round. Ashwin has previously tried different deliveries in the Tamil Nadu Premier League.

The incident happened on the fourth delivery of the last over when Super Gillies were left with no scope of winning the match. Perhaps, it was such a situation which made Ashwin try something different.

Talking about the match, Ashwin’s Dragons were seen winning the match as the successfully defended a 116-run target. On the back of M Silambarasan’s bowling figures of 3-0-13-4, Dragons restricted the opposition to 105/9 in 20 overs.

After Super Gillies captain Kaushik Gandhi won the toss and put the hosts in to bat, Dindigul scored a middling 115/9 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Ashwin, who came in to bat at No. 3 in the second over, top-scored for his team scoring 37 (19) with the help of five fours and a six. With bowling figures of 4-1-11-3, R Alexander was the pick of the bowlers for CSG.
