The ‘mercurial’ Pakistan Cricket Team, under skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed have yet again managed to keep their 2019 World Cup dreams alive as they beat the gritty Afghanistan side in an absolute humdinger of a game by 3 wickets at Headingly, Leeds.
The Afghanistan side yet again, akin their game against India fell agonizingly short of a debut World Cup victory in the ongoing edition. With this win, Pakistan have, for the first time moved to the 4th spot in the points table, pushing the Hosts England down to the 5th.
However, the Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed had to face an embarrassing situation when he miserably failed to attempt the ‘no-look’ run-out- for which the Indian wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni is popular for.
Sarfaraz was also run-out in the second innings in a dramatic fashion, in what can be called a possible brain fade moment of indecision.
Sarfaraz acts in haste
It all happened in the final delivery of the first innings being bowled by Mohammad Amir. It was a low full toss, which driven towards the long-on fence by Afghanistan’s mystery spinner Mujeeb-ur-Rahman. Being the last ball of the innings, Mujeeb had made up his mind to go for the second run.
“He is very specific about what he needs to do. His preparation is next to none.”

The fielder stationed at the long-on fence, threw the ball towards Sarfaraz at the striker’s end for a possible run-out. Sarfaraz was quick to collect the ball which was thrown a bit wide to the right of the stumps, but hastily tried to flick the ball at the stumps without even looking at them, only to miserably fail in the process.
What was more comical, was the fact that after the miss, Sarfaraz collided with Mujeeb- who was scampering back real quick and tumbled down on the ground to prevent him taking the extra run off the overthrow.
