How many overs left today PAK vs ENG Day 5: What are the maximum number of overs that can be bowled on Day 5 of a Test match?

The first test between Pakistan and England in Rawalpindi has certainly reached an interesting stage. This test’s pitch was getting a lot of criticism because of its flat nature, but the aggressive approach of the English team lifted this game. All the eyes are on day 5 of the test now.

Ahead of the series, Brendon McCullum said that the English team will not play for a draw, and they will do everything to get a result out of the game. It is safe to say that the team has played according to the coach’s world. No other team in the world would have declared at 264-7 to give a target of 343 runs.

Chasing the target of 343 runs, Pakistan are at 80-2 over 20 overs, and they have maintained a healthy run rate of 4.0. The pitch still looks brilliant for batting, and the Pakistani batters will consider their chances. However, the injury to Azhar Ali is a thing of concern for the side.

How many overs left today PAK vs ENG Day 5

The Day 5 of Pakistan vs England test match in Rawalpindi is expected to be a thriller, where England needs 8 wickets to win (If Azhar Ali comes out to bat after his injury) and Pakistan needs 263 runs. It is safe to say the match is very much alive after the initial day’s batting fest.

In the last initial four days, the game has already lost a lot of overs because of bad light. The Winter season is approaching, and it gets dark quite early resulting in the reduction of overs. A maximum of 98 overs can be bowled on the last day in order to compensate for the overs lost during the match so far.

However, keeping the situation in mind, it is almost impractical to imagine 98 overs happening as the bad light will definitely come into play on day 5 as well. Practically, around 80-85 overs should happen on the last day, and it should be enough to get a result in this match.
