Before the start of the riveting third day’s play of the second Test between Australia and India at Perth, Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc was seen enjoying a funny moment with fellow off-spinner Nathan Lyon.
During the pre-match show, Lyon was giving an interview to Fox Sports. While he was in conversation, Starc ran in from behind to remove his shorts. Starc’s act didn’t bother much to Lyon for he immediately put on his shorts and continued with the interview.
The video of the same was uploaded by Fox Sports on their official Twitter account. “Nathan Lyon handles it [Starc’s deed] like a champ,” read the caption alongside the video and rightly so.
Talking about the match, India were bowled out on 283 in 105.5 overs. India captain Virat Kohli, who came in to bat at No. 4, top-scored for his team, scoring 123 (257) with the help of 13 fours and a six. With bowling figures of 34.5-7-67-5, Lyon was the pick of the Australian bowlers.
The real drama happened in Australia’s second innings as the Indian bowlers put on display a dominating performance. While the wickets column not doing justice to their efforts, the Indian pacers made sure that they keep the opposition batsmen on their toes.
At stumps, Australia had scored 132-4 in 48 overs. In the absence of the injured Aaron Finch, Australia would be hoping for the two unbeaten batsman in Usman Khawaja (41) and Tim Paine (8) to put their team in a secure position. For India, Mohammad Shami (10-3-23-2) was the pick of the bowlers.

India may have mis-read the pitch, but five wickets for Nathan Lyon in the first innings on a pitch that India deemed suited for four quicks and no spinner, underlines how good Lyon is. He consistently succeeds in conditions where regular spinners aren’t expected to. #AUSvIND
