Watch: The engrossing highlights from Jose Mourinho’s first training session with Tottenham. Things have taken an interesting turn in London.

For weeks on end, it was reported that Jose Mourinho would replace Unai Emery at Arsenal. Despite Tottenham’s poor run of form, the possibility of Mauricio Pochettino getting sacked and replaced by the Portuguese was not on anyone’s mind at the start of the week; yet, here we are.

In Mourinho, Spurs now have a pedigreed coach who has won titles across the continent and is a proven winner. However, fans at Tottenham are disappointed with the signing and are worried with the brand of football the team will now play.

However, the general fan is curious as to what Mourinho will bring to the club; as evidenced by the fact that Tottenham’s highlights of Mourinho’s first ever training session with the club has already garnered 1.5 million views on their official YouTube channel.

The session began with Mourinho introducing himself to the players. He had a chat with Dele Alli and reserved a couple of taps on the head for Harry Kane and Eric Dier. There was also this one interesting moment when he called out Danny Rose for never moving.

He was also seen having an exchange with 20-year-old defender Japhet Tanganga. Mourinho then turned to a coach and appeared to say:

“He marked Cristiano Ronaldo, make him known.”

Tottenham will begin life under Mourinho with a match against West Ham this Saturday. Mourinho is expected to take the side back to a top 4 finish. He will however, not be given any financial backing to revamp the side to his wishes. Instead, will have to rely on the available squad and talent within the academy.
