After gaining an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five match series against New Zealand, India captain Virat Kohli will go to his break in a more relaxed manner. Kohli skipping two ODIs and three T20Is was announced after the first ODI at Napier.
Given he has been on the road since the last two months, the development was made in a bid to manage his workload. Addressing the media during the post-match press conference, Kohli was asked about whether he will continue to stay in New Zealand or will travel back to India.
Virat Kohli was full of praise for Hardik Pandya after India’s victory over New Zealand in the third ODI, while outlining that his side will have to be at their best to triumph in the @cricketworldcup.#NZvIND REACTION ➡️https://t.co/Vk6bcqvVZs pic.twitter.com/d3gLFkn6GU

Not wanting to disclose his plans to the media, the 30-year old cricketer finished the press conference then and there in a hilarious manner. “I’m done with the last press conference. Thank you. [walking away] I’m not revealing my plans,” he was quoted as saying.
In the three ODIs which Kohli played in this series, he scored 148 runs at an average of 49.33 and a strike rate of 83.14. He might have contributed with the bat in all the games but failed to grab a catch during the death overs in the third ODI. Being asked about the same, Kohli said that he failed to judge the ball.
I wish you and your ‘friends’ saw the entire video including the bit where I said Mr Modi remains neta number one and Kohli cricketer number one by some distance aur unko 2019 mein harana mushkil hai! Don’t use selective clips!😄👍 https://t.co/TYO6bqeUaE

Why is @imVkohli the greatest ODI player ever? Sample this stat: Kohli’s 88th score of 50 in 214 ODI innings – 39 are hundreds – incredible! #INDvNZ

At this rate, looks like India can rest Kohli, Dhoni, Bumrah, Hardik and whoever else they want and still win the World Cup without breaking a sweat. #NZvIND

“I thought I had it covered but the wind was too strong and I couldn’t read the ball as it drifts away from you very quickly. I couldn’t judge the ball at all. I don’t like dropping catches. I like to maintain my standard in the field because that is one place where you can contribute a lot.
“I was quite disappointed but Ish [Sodhi] was gracious enough to give me one more and that was an easier one because it was flat [and not in the air]. It was quite funny. The guys were laughing at me the boundary line. I was like I was being cheered two minutes back but that’s how the game goes,” he concluded in a humorous way.
