Who are the top 5 fastest players in the Premier League this season

Who are the top 5 fastest players in the Premier League this season? The fastest player this season is one that no one saw coming!

Football is a game wherein you use your feet to put the ball in the opposition goal and attempt to keep your opponent from doing the same. However, apart from the basics, there is a lot more that makes the sport such a riveting contest.

While skill is perhaps the most important facet of the game, there are other areas that could greatly benefit a team’s chance of winning the game. Pace being one of them. Being speedy will not necessarily win you games but being faster than your opponent surely helps.

The fastest players in the Premier League have been revealed via The Sun and there’s a surprising name in first place. Two players share the fourth place while only one of the big 6 clubs have contributed to the list.

Surprise omissions are Liverpool’s Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, Manchester United’s Daniel James and Tottenham Hotspurs’ Son Heung-Min. With that out of the way, let us now go ahead and look at who are the top 5 fastest players in the Premier League this season.

Who are the top 5 fastest players in the Premier League this season?

#5) Allan Saint-Maximin (Newcastle)- 22.8 mph (36.69 Kph)

#4) Bjorn Engels (Aston Villa)- 22.9 mph (36.85 Kph)

#4) Kyle Walker (Manchester City)- 22.9 mph (36.85 Kph)

#3) Phil Foden (Manchester City)- 23.1mph (37.17kph)
#2) Shane Long (Southampton)- 23.2 mph (37.33kph)
#1) Caglar Soyuncu (Leicester City)- 23.3mph (37.49kph)

Unfortunately for Allan Saint-Maximin, he pulled his hamstring while registering his top speed. He will be sorely missed by Newcastle who have failed to register a single win without the livewire. Kyle Walker’s name in the list is not a surprise. However, Bjorn Engels is a huge surprise considering his towering frame.

Phil Foden may not have received as many chances in the starting XI as he would have liked. However, in his limited opportunities, he has gone on and clocked the 3rd highest speed this season. He is only bettered by Shane Long, who’s top speed came in the same game that Saint-Maximin injured himself.

Amazingly, Shane Long is 32 years old!

Leicester City’s sensational defender Caglar Soyuncu takes the top spot. After barely edging out Long. The burly defender does not look fast at all. However, with his speed, he has left everyone in the league behind. He has been phenomenal for the Foxes this season and it will take some serious sprinting for anyone in the league to overtake him.
