Comic book giants Marvel recently got into a partnership with Mexican Wrestling League AAA, establishing new wrestlers based on their comic book characters. These characters were thrown together into a match in the just concluded Triplemania, and Marvel are reportedly happy with the results thus far.

Triplemania is AAA’s biggest event of the year. With more eyes on their product than usual, they took the bold step of debuting their Lucha Libre versions of Thanos, Venom, Spider Man and Captain America. It was a fun match that did its part and has reportedly convinced the head honchos at Marvel that this was a good decision on their part.

According to the Wrestling Observer Letter, Marvel were happy with the match. The report also confirmed that there is also talk of a “potential Marvel League type of thing”. One can only wonder how that will pan out. However, with their natural agility and athleticism, it makes sense for Lucha styled wrestlers to have the easiest transition into playing Superhero characters.
The aforementioned match saw Terror Púrpura (Thanos, played by Brian Cage) and Venenoide (Venom, played by Taurus) take on Aracno (Spider-man, played by Lio Rush) and Leyenda Americana (Captain America, played by Daga).
The villainous side came out on top before Estrella Cósmica, AKA Captain Marvel, made an appearance. It is not currently known who played that part. However, initial reports suggest that role was originally meant to be portrayed by Kylie Rae before she announced her retirement.
