Bullet Club originated back in 2013 out of a storyline involving Balor, known as Prince Devitt back then, turning on his longtime tag team partner Ryusuke Taguchi. He came up with the name in reference to his finger gun hand gesture and “Real Shooter” nickname.
Balor joined the WWE in 2014. Following his departure, Karl Anderson was positioned as the leader of the group. By the end of 2015, the leadership seemed to have transitioned to AJ Styles. Styles would join Balor in the WWE by 2016 and was replaced by Kenny Omega.
If Balor’s reign established the group and Styles’ reign marked their dominance, Omega’s reign was about expansion. The faction reached the peak of its popularity under the Cleaner. However, his leadership also caused a rift among the group, eventually splitting them into the OG’s and the Elite before the latter left NJPW.
Jay White would go on to become their final leader. Like the two previous leaders, White would also capture the IWGP Championship. During his absence, EVIL stepped in as the makeshift leader. Like his predecessors, he also became the IWGP Champion.
