Edge attacks Roman Reigns on surprise WWE SmackDown return. The Rated-R Superstar hasn’t been seen on WWE television since Wrestlemania 37.

With rumors and leaks so common these days it’s hard for any returning star to do so without the audience already expecting it. Tonight however, was a complete surprise. WWE Hall of Famer Edge returned to the WWE without anyone knowing about it.

The Rated R Superstar only had one thing in mind. Revenge. He was out for blood, royal blood belonging to a tribal chief and could very well have had it if Jimmy Uso hadn’t made the save. Unfortunately for Jimmy, there was no one to save him from Edge’s wrath.

Tonight’s episode of SmackDown saw Paul Heyman list all the stars that had succumbed to Roman Reigns since he returned to the WWE at SummerSlam last year. Heyman then said they were being forced to do something they’d never done before because they have no other choice as there’s no one else left to challenge Reigns.

At that moment Edge’s music played. The Rated-R Superstar made his first WWE appearance since Wrestlemania 37 and his intentions were crystal clear.

Edge laid Reigns out with a spear and almost hit him with the con-chair-to before Jimmy made the save.

An infuriated Edge then sent Jimmy through the barricades before calling Reigns out to close the show.

It has been reported that Edge may face Rollins at SummerSlam. The two had no interaction tonight though.

Rollins partnered with Bayley against Cesaro and Bianca Belair. Following his win, Rollins attempted to convince Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville to give him a shot at the Universal Championship. Unfortunately, he was told that they were not ready to make that decision yet.
