Edge earns his Wrestlemania spot with a historic win at WWE Royal Rumble 2021. The rated-R superstar came good at his words.

If Royal Rumble 2020 was about comeback, Royal Rumble 2021 is about ascension. At least for Edge it is. The Rated-R Superstar started out at the number one spot and outlasted every other wrestler to book a place for himself at Wrestlemania 37.

Like last year, Edge returned to the WWE at the Royal Rumble. This time however, he wanted to announce more than just his participation. This time, he was charting his way back to the top and he did just that by winning the Royal Rumble.

The men’s Royal Rumble was perhaps not as good as the women’s one. It also lacked in built but by the time the match ended however, it left you satisfied and entertained. Isn’t that what wrestling is all about?

The match ended with Edge and Christian teaming up against Strowman and Rollins. Edge and Christian paired up to eliminate Strowman before Rollins dumped Christian out. Edge then took out Rollins. Just as when he was celebrating though, Orton walked in and attempted to take Edge out with an RKO.

Despite landing his finisher however, Edge managed to toss the Viper out and win the match instead, With this, he is now only the third wrestler after Shawn Michaels and Chris Benoit to win the Royal Rumble match after coming in at number one.

He has now earned the opportunity to face either Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship or Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. Before leaving with Injury, Edge was part of the RAW roster and could face McIntyre. It seems likelier though, that he may face Reigns in spear vs spear showdown.

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
